Laptops are one of the fastest growing segments in the computer industry. Every year, over 600,000 laptops are stolen. Laptop theft is therefore an increasingly pressing issue for the mobile generation. Current solutions to this problem include bulky cable-locks and software products to recover stolen laptops. Neither of our competitors presents a convenient means of preventing theft.

LapLock is a simple yet effective software that prevents laptop theft. It is an elegant way to secure a laptop in a semi-public and public environments such as a library or cafes around the corner. With a simple click, Laplock secures a laptop. Once activated, it detects the removal of the power plug and emits an alarm. Through a prominent warning-message displayed on the screen, it also deters thieves from attempting to steal the laptop.

Our software development is driven by our vision to provide peace of mind to laptop users like ourselves, by empowering them to conveniently secure their laptops. We will focus our sales efforts initially on Singapore’s 50,000 university students.

A survey we conducted featuring participants from our target group showed that over 90% of students have encountered a situation, where they had to abandon their laptop. Not surprisingly, 70% would purchase our product. We are planning to sell our software for only 5 Singapore Dollar.
